steampunk outfit for NekoCon 2009 (next week)

Mkay, so I've been working on this outfit since March (lazybones) and it's finally almost done! All I've got left to do is hem the skirt (will be done tonight), glue shit onto the hat (will also hopefully be done tonight), apply the eyelets to the bodice (not hard since I've got my nifty little eyelet punch <3), and finish the "sleeves", which will take most of the work and time, I do believe. It's all the little things that need to be done at this point...well, aside from the "sleeves" as they're pretty important XD

I think it's really pretty, if I do say so myself, although I loathe satin now because of this outfit :P I'd like to get some pictures done when I'm in full costume and makeup, so hopefully I'll post one or two of them after next weekend (NekoCon!!!). Woot woot!! o(^_^)o

Jasmine You tribute show on WOLR Radio FM

Tue Aug 11, 2009, 7:26 AM
  • Listening to: Lamia Cross-Amanogawa
  • Drinking: tea
By now, most everyone has heard about the tragic passing of Jasmine You, bassist for the band Versailles~Philharmonic Quintet~. We didn't think that a simple R.I.P. or post on a site was enough, so we made a full length tribute show to him on our radio station, WOLR Radio FM. We did the show live this morning at 7:30AM EST, and we'll be re-broadcasting it tonight August 11 at 8:00PM EST. We talk about our personal memories of him (the muffin stealage at AKon and his sneakiness at AnimeUSA last year XD), his gentle and kind nature, and how much he loves his jasmine cake and tea XD We also played some music from the bands he was a part of, including Versailles~PQ~, HIZAKI Grace Project, and Node of Scherzo. You can listen in to the broadcast here: [link] Just click the "On Air" button at 8:00PM EST tonight, and listen in.

Jasmine You, we all love you. You'll never be forgotten <3

cosplays in the works:

  • Watching: Hellboy
  • Eating: Cheerios
  • Drinking: Coca-Cola
Okay, so here's a list of cosplays that I have in the works (read: just got the patterns for and that's it XD). This is mainly to keep myself organized and keep from going off to other impossible projects:

1) Kaya "schoolboy"
2) HIZAKI "Aristocrat's Symphony"
3) original steampunk (in progress, will resume once I figure out why the pattern instructions suck so hard)
4) original Mad Hatter concept

Annnd, a trip to the Dollar Tree yesterday presented me with yet another cosplay idea. They had thes echildren's puzzles with the Disney Princesses on them, and one had Belle, Aurora, and Jasmine. What caught my eye about this puzzle was that the outfits on the Princesses were entirely bejeweled, and Jasmine's was really different from what you normally see her in (there was a pseudo-cape, the top was different, she had an actual crown, etc). Now, I've wanted to cosplay Jasmine for a few months, but when I saw that puzzle I knew I had to cosplay that version of her. It's just so pretty! Anyone who wants to see it, do a search for the Disney Princess puzzle titled "Off to the Ball".

new cosplay ideas

So I'm now embarking on TWO cosplays that I hope to have done by the end of the year. One is something my friend Squeek and I are planning to do for AnimeUSA this November in honor of one of the musical guests who will be attending, and the other is an idea that popped into my head a couple nights ago. Good thing I can get patterns for each of them and not have to do much else than follow them! There's gonna be a couple of sales in the next two weeks for fabric and patterns and such, so my paycheck' gonna get blown in the fabric store! Wheeeee!!!!
